The last week of summer

Labor Day marks the end of summer and the last week to savor the most popular fruit of the season. We believe summer is the best time to eat watermelon because the sweetness of the fruit is almost certain but alas you open one and find out that it is not what it promised. What you do to redeem it is the challenge and this is what I did with mine…

Watermelon Slush, Popsicles, Fruit bowl, Plain with Fleur de Sal (Salt) and Sinigang sa Pakwan (Sour broth)
A harvest in the peak of the season does not guaranty sweetness. There is always a sour or tart one in the pick. My last week of summer is filled with the same message: hope for the best but expect the worst in any situation. Manage expectation with a vision and a plan but be adaptable to the challenges that it will bring. This is the true test of a person's character. Now, do you throw away a fruit that is past its season or enhance it to bring out its hidden flavor?
